The Light Rail 5.0 Side by Side, quality constructed in the USA and made to last and that’s under continuous use. Only Light Rail performs over many years like a workhorse with the power and endurance for any light. Details: The Light Rail 5.0 Side by Side Kit comes complete with a Light Rail 5.0 Motor, an 8′ Rail as two 4′ Rail sections that can slide together or can be spaced, see below, one crossbar to move two grow lights side by side, hardware and instructions. This grow light moving system can move multiple crossbars with each crossbar allowing indoor grow lights to travel side by side, and this indoor growers kit has a 0 to 60-second adjustable time delay for pausing the grow lamp at the end of each run. The time delay helps promote even indoor plant growth from end to end and allows for equal grow light-time for the entire run. The travel distance is adjustable and the travel speed is 1.6 feet per minute.

The Light Rail Side by Side Kit comes with a Light Rail 5.0 Drive Motor, one crossbar, instructions, mounting hardware and a 2 section 8’ Rail, so it’s long enough and ready for an extra Add A Bar Kit to purchase as a second crossbar. Light Rail 5.0 will move any indoor grow light, multiple sizes and weights up to 100 lbs per crossbar, and is a scalable DIY light mover grow equipment system that can move up to 9 smaller lights (or 6 lights to accommodate larger reflectors) with a single Motor. Light Rail 5.0 has a 0-60 second time delay for the ends of each run, and the travel length can be set anywhere along the Rail by placing the Switch Stop stoppers where you like.
Light Rail is made for any indoor grow setup including indoor grow lighting systems, supplemental greenhouse lighting, a four-season indoor greenhouse with light, tent grows and commercial grower environments. Note: For heavier grow lights that might exceed 100 lbs per crossbar, consider the very capable Light Rail 3.5 or 4.0 Kit, where each indoor grow light has its own support point, rated to 75 lbs. In this instance, parallel lines of Light Rail 3.5 or 4.0 Kits would then be used, again with proper Rail mounting being important.
Electrical Note: Light Rail 5.0 runs on 120 Volt so works in the US, Canada, and Mexico but is not compatible to European 220 Volt electrical. In that case, Light Rail 4.0 is the light mover of choice in that it has an adaptable transformer power cord and runs on 12 VDC so works in both the US and in Europe. A proper country-specific plug end would be needed, available upon request.
Note: Perfect balance is key for the crossbar to track evenly, so weight needs to be balanced. For grow lights that include the ballasts, both ends of the crossbar needs to have the grow light’s heavy side outward or the heavy side inward, so the grow lights mirror each other on that crossbar. This way the weight is balanced. Vented grow light systems are not recommended with Light Rail 5.0 because the ductwork would likely tug sporadically causing the crossbar to track unevenly. Fans pointed at the crossbar might also cause uneven tracking if grow lights are lighter in weight and are catching the moving air like a kite, so this can also be problematic. The last point to be mindful of is the adjustable crossbar’s wingspan (81″, 87″ or 93″) might not be right for everyone’s space. So, if any of the above might be an issue, it is recommended to use two parallel lines of moving grow lights using Light Rail 3.5 or Light Rail 4.0 with the farther above space planning recommendations that go with.
Set up configurations: Look at the Space Planning Page, specifically the Light Rail 5.0 section near the bottom of that page. You will see it is recommended to use the 4′ Rail sections and gap them by 2′ to get the most even grow light distribution
Relevant information about indoor grow lights with light movers…
With indoor or greenhouse lighting, whether it be LED grow lights, LEC grow lights, high-pressure sodium (HPS) grow lights, metal halide (MH) grow lights, double ended grow lights, -any and all indoor gardening lighting, when stationary, only shines light on the parts of leaves that are directly beneath it, which can cause limited growth and even damage to the plant similar to sunburn. Light Rail indoor grow light kits solve this problem by moving our grow light systems over the tops of plants. So, the leaves then get light at different angles. And, this is much more natural and it’s how the sun works.
A closer grow light system equals a more efficient use of grow light Ppfd numbers
So, we can now get rid of the shadow patterns that stationary grow lamps give us. Also with stationary indoor grow lights, light energy can be lost. And, that’s because it cannot diversify itself in order to allow our plants to absorb it at the optimum levels. Light Rail light movers, however, shines the correct intensity of indoor grow light on the leaves for 40% of the photoperiod. And, that’s perfection. This allows the plants to reach optimum Leaf Area Index, the most important factor in increasing yield. Also, by moving our indoor grow lights, we can now safely get our grow light system closer. That’s a closer grow light system to our plants for more efficiency and more ideal Ppfd numbers.

Light Rail 5.0 has a limited lifetime manufacturer warranty, runs at a safe 28-42 degrees C with a flame retardant electrical enclosure, as it should be, while imitator light movers run as hot as 107 C (170 F) and their electrical enclosures are likely made of flammable plastic. Without quality, there is no value and if it does not say Gualala Robotics, it is not a Light Rail.
